TEST STARTS

The first test match between India and South Africa is going to start from tomorrow at the Wanderers, Johannesburg. It’s a vital test series for the Indian cricket team. They have already been outclassed by the South African side in the one day international matches on the tour and they can’t expect the test matches to be any easier. The South African test bowling line up is even more lethal.

India’s bowling has also been strengthened as one of their premier fast bowlers Zaheer Khan has come back into the side. However, he has not bowled at the international level since a while, so, one cannot expect him to start hitting the right lengths straightaway, but, his presence on the ground will certainly benefit the other Indian fast bowlers who are lacking experience.

The other player with whom India has big expectations in the test series is Cheteshwar Pujara. The 25 years old right hander has got a very tight defence and he is perhaps the most organized player in the Indian batting line up. He is good at playing with the horizontal bat and the biggest positive about him is that he doesn’t throw away the good starts. Once he gets in, he makes the bowling team work hard. He has already had 5 hundreds in his brief test career so far.

As far as South Africa is concerned, they have played some brilliant test cricket in the last few years. They have performed well against almost every team and they would like to continue their good work in this series as well. They would be making one change in their playing XI that had featured in the second test match against Pakistan in UAE. Hashim Amla would replace Dean Elgar.

STOP THE HYPE

Sachin Tendulkar has requested Indian media not to create too much hype around his son Arjun Tendulkar as he is just a kid at the moment. Yesterday, Arjun started his professional career by featuring for the first time in a Kanga League game.

Normally, photographers and journalists are not seen covering low profile tournaments like Kanga League, but, yesterday, a lot of them were present at Azad Maidan and the only reason behind their presence was Tendulkar junior who was playing for Young Parsee Cricket club against United Cricket Club. Dravid is Irreplacable

The great Indian Batsman, sachin tendulkar, has said that it is almost impossible to replace a player like Rahul Dravid. He said that he has never seen a cricketer as dedicated as Rahul Dravid. He was the world’s most technically correct batsman. According to Tendulkar, Dravid’s retirement has left such a vacant space which could never be filled. Tendulkar said that Dravid’s approach towards the game was incredible.

In March, Rahul Dravid decided to retire from the test cricket. He had already retired from the limited over versions of the game last year. Rahul Dravid scored the maximum number of runs batting at the position of number 3. He was so rock solid in his defence that he was given the name “The wall” by the Indian cricket fans. He was also called Mr. Reliable and Mr. Dependable. Tendulkar said that he enjoyed sharing the dressing room with Rahul Dravid. He said that Rahul was a great player and more importantly a great individual.

On being asked about India’s disastrous performances on the Australian tour, Tendulkar said that Indian bowlers didn’t bowl well during the key moments of the matches. He said that most of the time, the bowlers were able to take the early wickets, but, every time a big partnership took place for the 3rd, 4th or 5th wicket which turned the match in the favour of Australia. On being asked if there is something wrong in the structure of cricket in India, Tendulkar said there is nothing wrong in the structure. It was just a bad series in which neither the batsmen nor the bowlers were able to perform. On being asked about the upcoming season, the Master Blaster said that it is going to be an important season as the world’s two top teams, England and Australia, are going to visit India.
