Monty Panesar performed brilliantly for Sussex in a county championship match against Worcestershire. Monty took 4 wickets in the second innings and helped Sussex to get a blistering win over Worcestershire. Sussex won the match by an inning and 117 runs. The Worcestershire batsmen struggled against Monty throughout the match. In the second innings, Monty bowled 23 overs, out of which 13 were maiden. He gave away only 23 runs in his 23 overs and sent 4 Worcestershire b atsmen to the pavilion.

Sussex won the toss and elected to field first. Worcestershire didn’t get a good start and the wickets kept tumbling at regular intervals and the team was all out on 162. Monty bowled only 5.4 overs in the first inning and got 1 wicket. The Sussex batsmen played brilliantly in the first innings and took a lead of 258 runs. The former England opener, Ed Joyce, scored a brilliant century and put Sussex on the driving sheet.

The Worcestershire batsmen had to play out of their skins to save the match, but, they didn’t try to apply themselves enough. Monty’s wonderful bowling made it even tougher for them. He bowled some very good arm ball and he also spun his stock delivery. The Worcestershire batsmen struggled to negotiate him. After the match, Monty said that he is delighted with his performance in the match. He was in good rhythm and he wants to carry on this momentum throughout the competition. Monty was left out of the test squad after his disastrous fielding performance on the Sri Lanka tour. On being asked about that, Monty said that fielding is a very important aspect of the game and Andy Flower is very strict about it. He gets pitched off if someone drops catches on the field. Monty said that he is working hard both on his fielding and his bowling and hopefully, he would make a comeback in the test squad very soon.
